Secondary students at the Western International School of Shanghai shared their positions on creating a more sustainable future to a panel of esteemed judges.Students who participated in the Shanghai Family Speech Competition 2022 expressed their opinions, findings, and ambitions for a greener, more sustainable future with speeches guided by thorough research and understanding of environmental protection and ecology

Ocean won First Place, Sean’ a Second Place and Gavin an award of excellence for their remarkable speeches on the topic of “Green your power, power your future”.

WISS Open House | Exceptional International Education

WISS Launches Series of Parent Engagement Workshops

Parental engagement positively impacts the educational achievement and development of our students. For this reason, WISS has created a calendar of parent engagement workshops to provide opportunities for parents to gain a deeper understanding for our school curriculum and our approach to student learning and development. This allows parents the knowledge and resources to better align home–school practices and support their child’s learning at home.

Global Handwashing Day @ WISS

Promoting good hygiene practices is crucial to staying safe and healthy. So how do we involve communities to learn more about good hygiene practices?

Washing your hands is one of the cheapest, simplest, and most effective ways of preventing the spread of germs. At WISS, we actively encourage good hygiene practices amongst our students, faculty, and visitors through visual prompts in restrooms, hallways, and entrances.

We further align with initiatives offered through the World Health Organization (WHO), of which Global Handwashing Day on October 15th is a part.Participation advocates the importance of washing our hands regularly and developing good hygiene habits.

WISS Starts The New School Year Strong!

WISS started the new school year as a community with our first parent welcome event. For School leadership, it is always a pleasure to meet and gather with our families to create opportunities to form a cohesive school-parent relationship and to make our families, new and returning, feel at home and part of the WISS Community.

WISS Coffee Mornings are always a great opportunity to catch up, make new friends and connect with members of the parent community over freshly brewed coffee and delectable canapés.This event was an excellent opportunity for the parent community to connect and marked the first meet and greet with WISS's new Head of School, Mr. David Edwards.

Our dedicated Parent Ambassadors did an excellent job supporting the event. They welcomed all arriving families and helped create a warm and vibrant atmosphere.

WISS DanceFest Gathers All

Can you imagine over 100 dancers gathered in one place sharing their passion? That’s what happened in the last edition of DanceFest at WISS. This dance event is a showcase of all dance disciplines and an opportunity for students to share their passion and learn new techniques through a variety of workshops. This year, WISS welcomed students from seven schools in Shanghai who joined the event.

CNN and WISS celebrating Call To Earth Day

At WISS, 2.5-year-old children are in contact with the natural environment and build a strong relationship with it by becoming explorers, developing curiosity, and creativity.

Recently, the world celebrated #CalltoEarth Day – A global movement that emphasizes the importance of protecting our planet. At WISS, we are committed to protecting the planet and teach our students about the importance of sustainability and respecting the environment. CNN, impressed by our way of educating in sustainability and our firm commitment to outdoor learning, decided that there was no better place in Shanghai to celebrate #CalltoEarth Day than our campus with our Early Years students.

CNN joined WISS for one of our unique Forest School days. Cooking in our mud kitchen, building tents, or playing with loose parts outdoors is something that students at WISS are very familiar with.
