Empowering the Next Generation: Student Leaders Shaping the Future through Entrepreneurship

Parent Engagement Workshop: Unlocking Your Child's Potential. WISS Students who attended the GAIL Conference in Auckland, New Zealand hosted the parent engagement workshop to share their experiences and what they have learned at the conference.

In what seems like a rare moment, the interests of business, academia, activism, and governance are broadly aligning in the urgent need to develop a world underpinned by clean technology. We witness the continuing effects of climate change globally, hear discussion about energy sovereignty, and see how industries are moving towards a workforce that prioritizes innovative and entrepreneurial thinking. This is the world into which our graduates move into.

The solutions that the world needs are not simply about moving away from fossil fuels. This approach has already been exhausted. From carbon credits to catalytic convertors, they are the opposite of innovation as these solutions sought to maintain rather than evolve our way of life. Now the focus shifts to moving towards the unknown, towards inventions and practices that do not already exist.

Recognition of just how much the world is changing and anxiety about how our students can survive in it is a common theme within our parent community at every grade level. The WISS position is that our students do not graduate to go and survive in the world outside of education, no, they become the entrepreneurs that create the world within which to thrive.

In WISS classrooms we retain rigor in our curriculum that keeps curiosity alive and grows the creative mindset that is most needed for future entrepreneurs. Essential leading skills are built WISSwide through the 4 Pillars and also through initiatives such as the student council and the Global Alliance for Innovative Learning that works outwardly with a network of 8 leading international schools.

As adults, we might not be able to see the solutions to our problems in the present nor predict what the future holds. But we can have absolute confidence that our WISS graduates are the innovative and entrepreneurial leaders that our complex and dynamic world needs.

拥抱多样性：全球创新学习联盟会议在新西兰奥克兰举行

全球创新学习联盟（GAIL）是一个著名的学校网络，致力于促进教育领域的创新、合作和文化交流。上海西华外籍人员子女学校（WISS）很荣幸成为全球创新学习联盟（GAIL）的成员，并兴奋地宣布将参加即将在新西兰奥克兰举行的全球创新学习联盟会议。此次会议为上海西方国际学校的学生提供了一次难得的机会，他们将在校长 David Edwards 先生、学术与创新部主任 Timothy Pyeon 先生和设计教师 Nwanneka Okwuosa 女士的陪同下，与其他 GAIL 成员学校共同促进多元化发展。

在中断四年之后，GAIL 会议将在新西兰奥克兰汇聚来自全球各地的教育工作者、管理人员和学生。今年的会议将特别关注多样性，承认多样性为教育机构带来的巨大价值。接受多元化观点、文化和思想的重要性无论怎样强调都不为过，GAIL 的目标是增强教育工作者创造包容性学习环境的能力。
