In the latest installment of our series "Greatness Starts With Attitude," we spotlight Ben Ness, a remarkable teacher at the Western International School of Shanghai whose journey epitomizes the power of resilience, passion, and determination. Hailing from London, United Kingdom, Ben's path to greatness took root at the Western International School of Shanghai (WISS), where he discovered his true calling and inspired countless others along the way.

Ben's story is one of transformation and self-discovery, shaped by his attitude towards life's challenges. His journey began at the tender age of 17 when he embarked on a voyage working for his father's international logistics and transport company. Sent on assignments across Europe and near Asia, Ben's initial exposure to the world ignited a passion for photography that would later become his driving force.

It was during his travels that Ben realized his deep-seated interest in photography and decided to pursue it academically. Enrolling at the London College of Communication UAL for fine art photography and art history, Ben delved into the world of visual arts, working with renowned artists and engaging in diverse projects worldwide. His artistic odyssey eventually led him to the bustling metropolis of Shanghai, where he found himself at WISS hosting printing workshops for students.

The transformative experience of working with students sparked a realization within Ben that his talents and expertise could make a tangible impact on the lives of young minds. Driven by this newfound purpose, Ben took the bold step of pursuing a teaching career, joining WISS as an art teacher. His decision marked the beginning of a new chapter in his journey, one defined by a relentless pursuit of greatness.

For Ben, greatness is not merely a destination but a mindset – a steadfast commitment to never giving up, maintaining a positive outlook, and navigating through life's challenges with unwavering resolve. His journey at WISS is a testament to this ethos, exemplified by his participation in the running challenge organized by students to raise awareness for cancer.

The grueling challenge, requiring participants to run four miles every four hours for 48 hours, put Ben's physical and mental fortitude to the test. It was a crucible of endurance and perseverance, showcasing our boundless potential when armed with the right attitude. Ben's triumphant completion of the challenge was a powerful reminder that we can shatter barriers and achieve the extraordinary with passion, resilience, and a positive mindset.

As we reflect on Ben's journey, we are reminded that greatness is not a distant dream but a reality within reach. It is a journey fueled by attitude, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of one's passions. 全球创新学习联盟（GAIL）是一个著名的学校网络，致力于促进教育领域的创新、合作和文化交流。上海西华外籍人员子女学校（WISS）很荣幸成为全球创新学习联盟（GAIL）的成员，并兴奋地宣布将参加即将在新西兰奥克兰举行的全球创新学习联盟会议。此次会议为上海西方国际学校的学生提供了一次难得的机会，他们将在校长 David Edwards 先生、学术与创新部主任 Timothy Pyeon 先生和设计教师 Nwanneka Okwuosa 女士的陪同下，与其他 GAIL 成员学校共同促进多元化发展。
