This Tiger Pride Tuesday we are featuring one of the prides of WISS that every student and teacher enjoys each day – our healthy and delicious school canteen food! With the help of Chef Jeff and the kitchen team, we did a fun photo shoot of a week of our WISS Canteen food.
Chef Jeff, the kitchen manager, is just one of the members of the fabulous WISS kitchen staff that keep our students and staff full, healthy and happy! He has been working in the kitchens of Shanghai’s top international schools for 21 years. His experience combined with his love for keeping the WISS community fed and happy has resulted in meals that delight our community.
The WISS Canteen offers multiple buffet-style dining options. Vegetarian, Asian and Western options are available every day, along with a salad bar, sandwich bar and baked potato stations. All of the food, including our bread is made fresh daily in-house.
Chef Jeff gives credit to the students and parents of the WISS community for helping the kitchen staff develop the menu. He says the international school environment has inspired them to make meals from around the world. “We can see the English people, or American, French or Italian and lots of different ideas they give us, if we provide Western taste they will tell us, ‘Oh, you can put more herbs in this’ and the parents and students give us feedback to make the taste more like home and they teach us.”
Check out a week of WISS food below and let us know in the comments which dish is your favorite! Do you see any dishes that make you think of home?
**Disclaimer: This food is the exact same food that our students and staff are treated to everyday, but the kitchen team have artistically plated the presentation a little for your enjoyment!
