The Western International School of Shanghai (WISS) is excited to be a part of the Global Alliance for Innovative Learning (GAIL) a consortium of seven schools on five continents. Secondary students who are a part of GAIL engage in a variety of 21st Century learning experiences, from real-time collaborations with their peers on the other side of the world, to the Annual GAIL Conference, in which 120 students, teachers, and Heads come together for one week to engage in challenging activities, inspire each other, and make life-long friends.

This year WISS is hosting the GAIL Conference on the theme of A Balanced Life, to be held on the WISS campus from Sunday, 30 June through Saturday, 6 July 2019. Planning is already well underway for what is sure to be an incredible week. Students will have the opportunity to train with the world-famous Shaolin Temple monks in their unique style of acrobatics, learn a centuries-old photographic technique, tour downtown Shanghai in an open-top jeep, and learn the skills necessary to navigate the tricky world of social media, among many other things. But most importantly, they will be building genuine connections with students all over the world based on authentic engagement, meaningful relationships, co-operation, and trust.

Enrollment in the GAIL Conference is still open! If you think your child (Grades 9 -11) would benefit from this incredible, once in a lifetime experience, please contact the WISS Champions, Vanessa Ness vness@wiss.cn or Deborah Paul dpaul@wiss.cn for an application.
