what is it like to work at wiss?

WISS is a fantastic place to work, it is a friendly, dynamic, exciting, and busy community. My family and I moved here and we very quickly felt welcomed.
My children have lived in many different countries and attended many different international schools, they are the happiest they have ever been. The community is welcoming to all, the academics are challenging and keep them engaged, the after school activities are varied and rich. As a parent I can see my children having an opportunity to grow in a balanced way and be encouraged to develop different skills. It is a fantastic thing to see.
There are opportunities to find activities that one loves and make connections with like-minded people. The WISS events are frequent and magnificent - from the Sundowner, Winter Concert, Classical Evening, Chinese New Year dinner, WISS Gala, and more!
WISS is family away from family and it has made us want to stay here in Shanghai forever.

Moving to a new country and new school can often be accompanied with anxieties, especially when relocating with your family. For us, some of those anxieties were wondering how we would be received in our new host country and school.
Those feelings of uncertainty quickly evaporated upon our arrival at the airport. Yes, the airport can you believe it?! We were greeted with warm smiling faces from HR to other WISS staff.
WISS often boasts of having a strong community and a family like environment. Through my observations and personal experiences, I can testify this is factual. My family and I have been embraced and welcomed by WISS community with open arms and we look forward to being a part of this family for many years to come.

WISS is an international IB school with a truly child centred community spirit where everyone contributes to the life of the school. Staff, parents, and students come together to support each other in a caring and nurturing environment.
For me, it is a joy to collaborate with diverse leadership and teaching teams who believe in the power of inquiry. At WISS we work together and strive to develop agentic critically thinking learners who are preparing themselves for adult life in a rapidly changing world. Professional development is an integral part of school life and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to share in the wealth of pedagogical expertise and experiences through rich inter-cultural professional relationships and dialogue.
As a parent, I am appreciative of the opportunities that school life provides for my daughter as I experience the joy and pride of watching her grow into a self-aware global citizen who is challenging herself through the development of her own personal passions.

We arrived at WISS in 2011 with two girls in the PYP. We never imagined after 8 years we would still be here, with another daughter!
WISS is like a home where the colleagues are like family, the students are fantastic and the parent community supportive and involved. When you are an expat and away from your home country, finding friends who are like family is rare and finding a school with such supportive students and families is also rare.
We have loved being part of WISS and watching it grow from about 250 students when we arrived to well over 700 students 8 years later.
