Fiona Morris
Early Years School Principal / IB Workshop Leader / IB Site Visiting Team Member

Originally from the UK, Fiona Morris has been working internationally since 2005, having worked extensively at schools in England. Fiona is a strong advocate of inquiry based learning, with many years experience as a teacher and administrator in the PYP. WISS is Fiona’s third IB school, having worked widely in Asia and Europe after leaving the UK to work with children around the world. Fiona has been Lead Teacher at the Prague British School, Junior School Coordinator at the International School of Ho Chi Minh City, and Early Years Coordinator at WISS from 2006 to 2009. Fiona holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.

Lisa Kane
Early Years Deputy Principal / Nursery Blue Teacher

Lisa gained her Early Years Education diploma in 2001 and worked within both mainstream and Special Education schools in her home town in Scotland. She is also trained as a Communication Support Worker, working with Deaf children and their families and is proficient in British Sign Langauge.  Lisa has since gained her BA (Hons) Childhood Studies and moved to Shanghai in 2010 where she has taught Foundation Stage in an International School. She lives in Shanghai with her husband and daughter. Lisa values the uniqueness of each child.

Judith Canning
PYP Coordinator

Ms. Judith Canning is from Scotland however she has lived in various countries such as Germany, the United States, France and Spain before coming to work as part of the WISS community in China. Judith is a qualified architect who, after twelve years of practice, decided her vocation was in education and she has been working in International schools for the last fourteen years. Judith loves to travel and discover new cultures, she also enjoys live music and visiting art and architecture exhibitions as well as walking. She has extensive experience in teaching and coordination roles in Early Years and is a great believer in play based learning.

Michelle Meng
Early Years Lead Chinese Teacher / Pre-Nursery Blue Teacher

Ms. Michelle Meng is from Shanghai China. She graduated from Beijing Normal University and KLC School of Education in Singapore and has a major in Early Childhood Education. She worked as Chinese Teacher and Vice Principal for 8 years with children from 18 months to 6 years in Singapore.  She also worked in an international Preschool and Kindergarten in Shanghai as home room teacher and Chinese Principal for more than 10 years. Pre-Nursery Blue Teacher

Olaya is from Aviles, Spain. She moved to Italy in 2008 to complete her studies in biology. Since then, she loves every opportunity to experience different cultures and travel the world. Olaya graduated from London Middlesex University with a Post Graduate Certificate in Early Years Teaching and has taught in different nurseries in the UK for 5 years. She particularly enjoys creative activities. Olaya trained as a Forest School Educator and believes that outdoor learning supports children’s resilience and imagination. Her hobbies are reading detective novels and psychology books, cooking, and dancing. She is very pleased to be part of the WISS community!

She believes that in the process of playing, it is easier for children to understand and accept new things and new knowledge through real-time guidance. Ms. Silvia Segura is from Seville, Spain. Silvia has been working as a teacher assistant in different fields since 2000. She has completed numerous courses and workshops related to special education. She previously lived in Dubai where she worked as an assistant teacher with a group of autistic children in grade 1, and teaching Spanish language. She has extensive experience and knowledge in nursing.  Her hobbies include trekking, cooking Spanish food (especially paella) and flying falcons with her husband. She has 2 children at WISS.

Sharon Song graduated from Three Gorges University with a Bachelor Degree in English Linguistic Literature in 2005 where she was also awarded a Diploma in Teaching. When asked where she is from, Heidi Steinbring always says Australia because it is the country in which she lived the longest and where her family now live. She has dual nationality, holding both a New Zealand and a German passport, and has lived and worked in a number of countries including the USA, Italy, Russia, Mexico and Singapore. Heidi has a Bachelor of Teaching degree and has spent twenty years working and learning with very young children. She is excited to be part of the WISS community!

Ms. Kira Botton loves being a part of the WISS family. She is from Louisiana and Colorado in the United States, and has taught in both South Korea and China as well. Ms. Carla Pracilio is from Australia and she has spent the past 4 years in Shanghai working in a bilingual Kindergarten. Noel is originally from Ireland but moved to Cambridge, England where he worked and studied for 13 years. He has been working as a teacher, in a variety of age groups, from Reception to First Grade since 2006. Lissy has a BA degree in Translation and an LLM degree in International Business Law. She loves to be with children. During her undergraduate studies in Shanghai, she was a volunteer at a teaching programme for primary schools for children of immigrant workers in the Songjiang District. When she was studying in the UK, she took part in the Teddy Bear Hospital programme which aims to reduce childhood anxiety in a hospital environment. Ms. Leslie Holm is from Memphis, TN, in the United States and has spent the last 20 years teaching kindergarten, first, second and third grade in public, private and international schools. Amanda is from Jiangxi Province and has been living in Shanghai since 2006. Stacey was born in Shanghai where she stayed till the age of 18, and then continued her Higher Education at Central China Normal University and RMIT University in Early Childhood Education. After graduation in 2016, Stacey became a teacher in Australia to develop her pedagogy. She came to us from Froebel Early Learning Centre-a German-English bilingual center, where she worked as a Toddler Room co-teacher and STEM teacher. Stacey’s educational and work experience makes her more sensitive and responsive to the needs of students with various cultural backgrounds. Lisa Ellery
Head of EAL and EAL Teacher

Lisa is from Wales and gained a B.Ed Primary (Honours) at the University of Gloucestershire. She began her teaching career in London and has since taught EAL learners in both Primary and Secondary schools in addition to College and University in the UK. Lisa enjoys travel and has previously taught in Japan and the Philippines. On returning to the UK, she worked as an Education Authority School Improvement Advisor for EAL. Missing Asia, she moved with her family to Shanghai in 2011 and was Head of EAL at an international school before joining WISS. Lisa is enthusiastic about teaching EAL within the PYP curriculum; encouraging and supporting the language acquisition of those children new to English within the WISS community.

Mrs. Faye White is predominately from North Carolina with a childhood background of various moves to different states and the U.A.E. Faye has a Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Faye has taught middle and high school E.S.L., first grade E.S.L., third grade E.S.L., and third grade mainstream. Her hobbies include running, writing, crafting, traveling, and bike riding with her husband Patrick. Jose is from Spain. He has worked for 20 years in school counseling and special education in a variety of environments, from public and private schools in Spain to international schools in the Middle East.  Jose has a Master’s degree in Education and PhD in Social Psychology. He is married and has two sons at WISS. His love for falconry, as the bond of brotherhood between peoples and intangible heritage of humanity, led him to use falconry as an educational resource for students with socio-emotional problems.

Ms. Parker Watson is from Kansas in the United States. She studied at the University of Kansas and obtained her degree in Physical and Health Education. She left Kuwait after three years to come to Shanghai and join our WISS community. Parker has many hobbies most of which involve being outdoors or doing something sporty. Ms Lu is a former Olympic swimmer and has represented China at many international games around the world, including taking the silver medal at the Swimming World Cup. Ms Lu has been an educator, swimming teacher, and pool manager for 12 years and wants to use her expertise to help the young people at WISS to unlock their sporting potential.

Deborah Paul has taught Art in India, Vietnam, and most recently, Italy. Her teaching experience began in Yonkers, N.Y., and at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Deborah has a Masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University and a Teaching Certification from New York State. A “third culture kid” herself, Ms. Paul grew up in the U.S., U.K., and The Netherlands. Her hobbies include traveling, visiting Art museums with her husband Will, and playing with her Golden Retriever, Lucy. She enjoys engaging with students in their discovery of Art and is very excited to be a part of WISS.

She has worked with students of different ages ranging from preschooler to undergraduate. With a wish to help more students with psychological work. She carried out a psychological service project for Left-behind children in Nanjing for almost a year. Before joining WISS, she worked in a bilingual school in Shanghai. Arina enjoys learning about different cultures and is pleased to be in the WISS community.

Jessica Xu
Assistant to Early Years Principal

Prior to joining WISS, Ms. Jessica has worked for many years as assistant to senior executives and management team in both public and private organizations. She has worked with colleagues and clients from a variety of cultural backgrounds, including India, Argentina, Ecuador, Scotland, Japan, Dubai and Indonesia. She enjoys helping people from different backgrounds coming to mutual understanding, and is a firm believer in actions. Jessica has a Master’s Degree in English from Shanghai International Studies University. She also speaks some Spanish and has great interest in learning new things.

Lisa Prowse
Early Years Office Assistant

Lisa is from Changsha, Hunan, and has been living in Shanghai for the last 6 years with her husband and two daughters.  Previously she worked in the food and beverage industry as a supervisor.  Lisa enjoys spending time with young children so feels working at WISS is the perfect place to restart her career.

Roshiley Tilistyak
Nurse Coordinator

Roshiley holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and, as well as general nursing experience, has been a school nurse at another international school in Shanghai. With her team of nurses, Roshiley provides health support to the WISS community and coordinates between parents and school. Roshiley moved to Shanghai from the Philippines with her husband, Denes, and two wonderful boys, Mark and Charles.

Early Years Nurse

Ms Zhou graduated from North China Coal Medical University where she received a Bachelor of Nursing after finishing five years’ intensive training in nursing. She has worked as a nurse in a local hospital in Shanghai for three years and loves working with children at WISS
