Signs and symptoms

COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. It is a respiratory disease and most people will develop mild symptoms.

How does it spread?

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets. This is why it is important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick.

How do I protect myself and prevent the spread of COVID-19?

While most people who will contract COVID-19 will have mild symptoms, especially children and young adults, it’s important to protect ourselves and the community. The most effective ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are;

  • Frequent and effective handwashing with soap or hand sanitizer as this kills and washes away germs 勤用肥皂或洗手液有效洗手,可以杀死并冲走细菌。
  • Maintaining at least 1-meter distance between yourself and someone who is coughing and sneezing. When someone coughs or sneezes, they spray tiny droplets which may be infected with the virus.   • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and face before washing your hands. Our hands touch many surfaces and may have come in contact with the virus on a surface. The cleaning of surfaces with soap (detergent) and water before disinfection is essential for the removal of germs. Cleaning does not kill germs but removes the majority of them.

Disinfection Procedures

Disinfection is the killing of germs. This process does not remove germs or clean surfaces but this second step, after cleaning, helps lower the risk of infection.

Follow these steps to remove formed feces or diarrhea and disinfect the water:

For public pools, the pool operator should raise the free chlorine concentration very high forhours if someone has diarrhea in the pool since it might contain the chlorine tolerant parasiteCryptosporidium. This recommendation does not apply to residential pools. Members of onefamily or the same household are less likely to spread Cryptosporidium to each other if theyuse the same pool. Additionally, raising the free chlorine concentration very high for hoursincreases the risk of pool chemical injuries to residential pool owners (for example,respiratory distress or chemical burns) if the pool chemicals are mishandled. This means it isvery important for swimmers to follow the steps of healthy swimming whether they use publicor residential pools.

Management of blood in pool water

Germs found in blood (for example, Hepatitis B virus or HIV) are spread when infected bloodor certain body fluids get into the body and bloodstream (for example, by sharing needles orby sexual contact). Chlorine kills germs found in blood and CDC is not aware of anyinstances in which a person has become infected with these germs after being exposed to ablood spill in a pool.

关于2019新型冠状病毒病肺炎复学入校和防疫安全间距的政策

 

In order to prevent and contain the spread of the communicable disease COVID-19 within the school community, there may be times where policies for entering campus and physical distancing is required. When there is a moderate to high risk in the community, the WISS school community is required to implement the WISS Entering Campus and Physical Distancing Policy for COVID-19. This policy is to be applied with the approval of the School Director after consultation with health officials and the Epidemic and Prevention Leadership Group.
为了防止和控制传染性疾病新型冠状病毒肺炎COVID-19在学校社区内的传播,有时可能需要制定入校以及规范防疫安全间距的政策。 当社区中出现中度到高度风险时,西华社区必须针对COVID-19实施上海西华外籍人员子女学校复学入校和安全间距的政策。 在与卫生官员和流行病与预防领导小组协商后,校长批准予以实施该政策。

Entry and Exit Gates
出入校园

 

The entry and exit gates of the WISS campus covers the 2 gates on Lian Min Road, the entrance within the drop off lane on Lian Min Road, and the side gate on Ye Lian Road. Entry and exit gates to the WISS campus are monitored by security guards.

  • Security Guards are to check each other’s temperatures and document at beginning and end of each shift.

  • Staff and students are to enter the school gate without loitering and are to aim to keep 1.5 m between themselves and other people. 员工和学生入校前,不闲逛、不聚集,人与人之间保持1.5 米安全间距。

Early Years

Physical distancing in Early Years (EY) is required to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during a period of moderate to high community risk.

  • Students are educated on the importance of social distancing in the prevention of spreading diseases with age appropriate content. 结合幼儿年龄特征,向幼儿进行社交间距对预防传播疾病重要性的教育。
  • Students are encouraged not to hug, hold hands, and engage in close physical contact while at school. 鼓励幼儿在校期间不拥抱、不握手和不进行亲密身体接触。
  • Teachers and staff are to facilitate social distancing with the students. 教师和教职员工应与幼儿间保持社交安全间距。
  • Students and staff in EY will have their temperature taken on entry to school and before lunch each day. Rotating staff duty roster to be prepared to support the nursing team during this time. 幼儿和教职员在每日入园和午餐前进行体温测量。在此期间为配合护士团队,应提前备好轮换值勤表。
  • All large group activities are postponed and or cancelled. 推迟/取消所有大型团体活动。

  • Parents are not to enter the EY facilities without permission from the EY Principal or EY Deputy Principal and must consent to a temperature check before entering. 未经幼儿园校长或副校长的许可,家长不得进入幼儿园,家长必须同意并配合测量体温方可进入。
  • Visitors are not to enter the EY facilities without permission from the EY Principal or EY Deputy Principal and must consent to a temperature check as well as completing the WISS COVID-19 Health and Travel History Form. 未经幼儿园校长或副校长的许可,访客不得进入幼儿园。访客必须同意并配合测量体温,以及填写西华COVID-19健康和旅行历史记录表。

Physical distancing in Primary is required to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during a period of moderate to high community risk.

Social Distancing in Food Service Areas
餐饮区域的社交间距

 

Social Distancing in food service areas is required to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during periods of moderate to high community risk.
为了防止COVID-19在中等到高社区风险期间传播,需在餐饮区域规范社交间距。 

  • Catering and kitchen staff are to check and document each other’s temperature at beginning and end of shift. Head of Carena Catering will supervise this.
    餐厅和厨房员工应在轮班开始和结束时检查并记录彼此的温度。 Carena Catering主管将对此进行监督。
  • Catering and kitchen staff are to wear masks and gloves during all food preparation and service. 餐厅和厨房工作人员在所有食物准备和服务期间都应戴口罩和手套。
  • Temperature checks are to be attended at lunchtime on all staff and students entering the cafeteria. 午餐前,所有进入食堂的员工和学生都要进行体温检查。

Entry of Non-WISS Personnel
校外人员入校

Entry of non-WISS employees is prohibited during the period of high to moderate community risk of COVID-19. Exceptions are made under the following circumstances:
在社区中存在COVID-19的中高度风险期间,严禁校外人员进入。 但以下情况例外: 

  • Permission granted from the Director. 经校长许可。
  • Student parents who have permission from the building Principal and consent to all entry requirements. 学生家长必须征求各校区校长的许可,并同意所有入校要求。
  • Prospective enrollments who have an appointment with Admissions, permission from the Director, and consent to all entry requirements. 与招生部门预约的潜在生源,需经校长许可,并同意配合所有入校要求后方可入校。
  • Visitors may make an appointment with Admissions to tour the school with permission from the Director and must consent to all entry requirements. 与招生部门预约参观学校的访客,需经校长许可,并同意配合所有入校要求后方可入校。
  • School tours will also be limited to 2 persons per tour from the same family. 校园参观每组家庭每次仅限2人入校参观。
