With another successful year complete and a new fall semester just over the horizon, Western International School of Shanghai is getting set to welcome a new face to the team. The WISS school board recently announced the appointment of UK native Fiona Johnstone as the new Principal of Primary and Early Childhood Education.

Johnstone has significant experience developing and managing kindergarten and elementary schools both nationally and internationally, having served in London as the head of Dulwich College junior school and deputy head of the junior school at Oakfield Preparatory School, and as Head of  junior school at Perth College in Western Australia. Her previous experience in Shanghai includes a two year post as the founding Head of the junior school at Dulwich College Shanghai.

Johnstone has a strong interest in developing the tenets of inquiry-based schooling and is aiming to further enhance this as one of the focuses of the WISS International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program during her term. She assumes her post at WISS in July.
