International Buddy Class

Before the October break, Grade 2 Blue prepared letters of introduction to send to a Grade 2 class at Mentone Girls Grammar, Melbourne Australia. Meanwhile Australian students and their teacher, Ms Clarke prepared a similar package of letters, a travel buddy and a journal to accompany the travel buddy across the Ocean! Last week in Shanghai and Melbourne, both Grade 2 classes received their travel buddy packages. We were excited to receive a cuddly wombat “Wendy” while Mentone students received a unique Shanghai character “Haibao” the official mascot for the Shanghai World Expo! Over the coming month, Haibao and Wendy will visit the classmates of each class, recording their journey along the way! We hope to return our travel buddies in time for Christmas and the end of the Southern hemisphere’s school year. Through this experience students have made connections with our current Unit of Inquiry, A Sense of Place, which focuses on investigating the unique features of places around the globe!
