Construction Rolls Forward

Well it was great to come back from two weeks in Dalian and see that great progress has been made in the building of phase 2 at Western International School of Shanghai! The first wing of the Middle/ High School is now completed up to the fifth floor and the wiring and ac units and plumbing and dividing walls are all going in.
One can actually see the outline of the offices on the first floor and the classrooms and multi function rooms on the floors above. And looking out the back of the current Kindergarten building I was able to see the pool building really taking shape.
The two activity rooms next to the locker rooms in the pool building will a a great boon to the activities program. The enclosure of the pool in glass will be the final step.
I also got to walk into what will be the dining room which will have a 2 meter glass porch running down the length of it and overlooking the courtyard.
So, the framing and finishing work are beginning in the five floors of the first wing. The second wing structure is up to the third floor (ultimately it and the third wing will each have four floors).
The two floors of the science building structure have been completed.
And the basement of the gym/theater is finally drying out enough to pour the cement floor very soon!
There is much to do between now and August 28th, but we are confident we will get there! The marmoleum flooring for the classroom hallways is coming from Holland, the high tech gym/theater floor is slected and coming from Korea, and we are looking at beautiful finished wood to line the hallway walls with bulletin boards running the length of the halls above them.
With the extreme heat and humidity today, I was particularly grateful to the workmen who are making all this happen. Good job, men and women!
