CISSA Soccer Days
By WISS Admin | October 22, 2009
By Luke Griffin, PE Coordinator
Last week saw PE and class teachers and students from Grades 3, 4 and 5 travel to the Shanghai American School to represent WISS at our first ever CISSA sporting event. The game was soccer (football) and the aim was to have fun!
Each class was divided into two teams and we played 3 or 4 games each during the day. The games were enjoyed by everyone. Students learnt a lot about the importance of communication, cooperation and playing together as a team. They found that the chance to represent WISS gave a great sense of pride for the school and the desire to want to do our absolute best for our school and class mates.
The weather that greeted us each day was fantastic and it certainly matched the level of participation and energy that was seen on the pitches. Students returned to school tired from their enormous efforts, but with a buzz from the excitement and enjoyment of the day.
Thank you to those parents who attended the day to help out our students and to join in the fun. Thank you also to the WISS staff members who accompanied students on the day and to those who helped coordinate logistics and arrangements.
There will be another CISSA grade level soccer tournament towards the end of the school year and everyone is very much looking forward to it.
Our next CISSA interschool sporting event will be the Cross Country distance races. These too will be held at the Shanghai American School and will be conducted after school on Tuesday the 16th of November. Information will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
Grade 3 Red Shared Writing Reflection
Today we went to Shanghai American School for the CISSA soccer tournament. Many international schools from Shanghai were involved. WISS had two teams, team green and team gold. Team green played three games, and team gold played four games. Nine soccer kids played at a time. We had substitutes to give players a rest. It was exciting to see friends from other schools in Shanghai. We were all risk takers, and we all tried our best!
