Book Week: “Open the door to reading!”

By WISS Admin | March 16, 2010

Congratulations to everyone on their active participation in a fantastic Book Parade Friday March 5, which added the finishing touch to our Book Week. The students and staff all joined in the spirit of Book Week by dressing up in the most creative and spectacular costumes! We were entertained with three presentations of well-known stories by groups of students and staff. The first was an excellent presentation of ‘Where the Wild Things Are’, dramatized and narrated by a selection of Primary students. This was followed by a reader’s theatre interpretation of, ‘Clack, Clack, Moo’, by several talented members of staff and a traditional Chinese story, ‘The Three Monks’, acted and narrated by members of our Chinese staff.

During the fun-packed week, WISS students enjoyed purchasing books on Monday and Tuesday at the Book Fair. On Wednesday Chinese author Ms Qianni Xie was extremely well received, and Margaret Read MacDonald, an American storyteller, folklorist, author and children’s librarian, had a blast with all our students from Nursery to G10 on Thursday.

Many thanks to all who contributed to making this a Book Week to remember. Special thanks to Fiona Collins and Cici Zhuang, our librarians, for organising Book Week and for making it such a success.
