Ms. Mansfield’s family is originally from New Zealand, but she was raised in Hong Kong. She graduated with a double BSc. in PE and Science from Otago University, New Zealand, and then returned to New Zealand to complete her Post Graduate Diploma in teaching. Ms Mansfield also holds an MBA in Marketing from Leicester University, UK, and is currently studying her Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration. She has worked with a variety of age groups since 2004, including pre-school and middle school. In Hong Kong, she was working at an IB World school and moved to Shanghai in 2009 with her family. As both a parent of two young boys, and a PYP advocate, Ms. Mansfield is passionate about the PYP and all it has to offer to our internationally minded children. She is a believer in developing in our students a passion for learning through critical thinking, communicating, open mindedness, responsibility and respect.

Natalie Skaines

Miss Natalie Skaines grew up on the northern Queensland coast of Australia. She graduated from James Cook University in Cairns in 2002 with a Bachelor of Education. Throughout her ten years of teaching, Natalie has experienced working in various year levels and has been involved in program writing to coincide with the Australian Curriculum and inquiry based learning. She is a very active and dedicated educator who has a passion for engaging, guiding and developing her students to their full potential. Natalie enjoys various physical activities including running and bike riding and holds an accredited ‘Swim Australia Teacher’ certificate. Teaching at WISS is Natalie’s first experience working at an International School and she is excited about the opportunities it will present.

Ms. Zhu has been working in International schools for since 2007. Her major is teaching Chinese as a second language and she loves working with young children; seeing them learn and grow. In her spare time she enjoys reading books, listening to the music, and travelling.

Marijana Drezgic

Marijana Drezgic

Mrs. Marijana Drezgic has a multicultural background originating from the region of former Yugoslavia. She received her Bachelor of Education (Honours)degree from the University of Belgrade and her Nursery teaching Diploma from the University of Novi Sad. Just after finishing her studies, Maja was offered a great opportunity to move to Botswana, Africa, to start working in a local school with children who were very keen to learn and grow. After her first teaching experience in Botswana Maja taught as a primary class teacher in an IB PYP international school in Gaborone, Botswana. Maja’s African experience is closely connected to her enthusiasm and in the Roots and Shoots organisation and her contribution to saving African wildlife. After getting married in Botswana, Mrs Drezgic moved to Shanghai, China to work at another international school in the city. Mrs Drezgic is very excited to have been given this wonderful chance to teach the IB PYP again and to join the community of excellent educators and child centred teachers at WISS. Furthermore, she is thrilled that her son, one of the youngest students in the school, has joined the family of IB learners.

After graduating from Shanghai Normal University, Carol Chen had her teaching experience in a local public school for 7 years and in an international school for 8 years. She has gained many teaching awards from the Chinese government and has become an experienced teacher, especially teaching Chinese. She likes reading and writing. Carol also enjoys teaching children Chinese writing.

Kimberly Shing

Originally from the U.S.A., Kimberly Shing comes to WISS from an IB World School in Berlin, Germany. She graduated summa cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in education from Lynn University and earned a master’s degree in multicultural foundations of education from Florida Atlantic University. She has extensive experience teaching grades K-8, both as a classroom teacher and as an English language learner (ESL) coordinator. She loves travelling and photographing interesting adventures. She strives to instill a life-long love for learning in her students with an internationally-minded awareness and respect for themselves, for the environment, and for others.

Ms. Sun graduated from Xi’an Translators University in 2002, and she has been teaching for 6 years in local colleges, primary schools and international kindergartens. She loves teaching and is always trying to improve her teaching skills. She won the 2nd prize in the Teachers’ Skills Competition of Shanghai in 2004. She believes that learning is fun and she is happy to learn and explore with her students. We welcome her to the WISS team!

Ms. Anuradha Choudhuri, who is generally known as Anoo, is a global citizen – born in India, she has traveled and lived in many places and has now settled a home in Mexico. She speaks four languages fluently and understands four more. Anoo has been teaching since 1983 and has been teaching the PYP since 1997. She is passionate about PYP and believes that it is the best way to educate our future generations. She loves travelling, cooking and making new friends. She has two beautiful children – young adults now – who are her pride and joy.

Ms. Hu graduated from Shanghai East China University of Science and Technology where her major was Social Education. Upon graduation, she taught Chinese for more than three years to foreign students aged 7-16. She also taught at Shujin Cultural School Center and organized the school summer camp and winter camp and Chinese Culture lesson for two other International Schools in Shanghai. Her hobbies include calligraphy and singing. She loves Chinese traditional arts and hopes she can instill her passion in her students.

Dara Bradley

Mr. Bradley grew up in a small village in Northern Ireland. He graduated with a BA with Honors in History and Business from Liverpool University before completing his PGCE at Roehampton University, London. Mr. Bradley taught in a number of schools in the London area before moving to China to teach in 2011. He has a great passion for traveling and hopes to visit many new places while working in Shanghai, as well as pursuing his love of sports. He thoroughly enjoys teaching and embraces each year as another chance to inspire the children in his care.

Ruya He is an experienced educator with ten years experience working in international education. She holds both a Master’s of Education, K-12, from Plymouth State University and a Bachelor of Language Arts degree from Shanghai International Studies University. A life-long learner, Ruya brings her passion and commitment for working with children and the skills to meet the unique challenges and opportunities that a diverse student body brings. Ms. He is excited to be part of the WISS family and enthusiastic to learn and to share with this like group of talented and devoted educators. She also has a passion for travel and looks forward to sharing her diverse personal and professional experiences with students and staff alike.

Amy Kent is from the Hudson Valley of New York and received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education grades 1-6 from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. An educator since 2005 with and a strong PYP background, Amy will use her US and Chinese experience to good effect, as she works with our young people. Amy enjoys being involved in the discoveries that children gain through their education especially the look in their eyes when the light goes on and when they get a concept for the first time. Amy believes as an international school it is our responsibility to create global citizens for the future. Part of that is having parents, teachers, and students work together; to foster a positive learning experience for everyone and give students the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Ms. Wu graduated from Fudan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. She has lived in Connecticut, the United States for four years before moving back to Shanghai. There she attended University of Hartford and earned her Master’s degree in Elementary Education. She has gained teaching experiences in various local public schools in the U.S. Before she joined WISS, she worked as a 4th/5th grade teacher in a dual language setting in North Carolina. Ms. Wu believes in individuality and strives to help each student find their best way to learn.

Peter Derrick

Mr. Derrick is a New Zealander with a strong background in inquiry based education, as well as coaching several sports. He has lived overseas in England and the Philippines, and now enjoys the many aspects of life in China. Mr. Derrick is a warm, likable man who combines experience, academic skill, and a love of children to inspire the young people in his care. He is joined by his two daughters and his wife Vicky, who teaches PYP Art.

Joy Zhou earned her B.A from East China Normal University where she majored in Chinese Linguistic and Grammatology. She has been teaching since 2010. Joy loves teaching and appreciates different cultures. She loves sports and she can play badminton very well. During her spare time, she likes traveling, reading, cooking, visiting plant markets and playing badminton.

David Simojoki

Mr. Simojoki grew up in Western Australia. He graduated from Edith Cowan University in Perth with a Bachelor of Education and a Diploma of Teaching as well as a Teacher’s Higher Certificate. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Reading Studies and a Graduate Diploma in Educational Administration. David has extensive teaching experience in Australia, Canada, Indonesia (PYP) and most recently, Egypt. He has taught all pre-primary and primary year levels during his career including a two year position as Head Teacher of a one teacher school in the West Australian wheat belt where he taught all year levels simultaneously. David enjoys teaching immensely, particularly those “Ah – ha” moments when students suddenly grasp an idea! He is very excited about the prospect of living in Shanghai and teaching the PYP at WISS.

Stella Jiang

Ms. Stella Jiang grew up in Shanghai. She graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Holding a passion for education and love of children, she obtained a Teacher’s Certificate of High School Chinese in 2009 and has been studying a Master’s degree in education at East China Normal University since January 2011. She has previously worked at other international schools here in Shanghai for 3 years. Ms. Jiang joined WISS in 2013 with an excitement of being a PYP educator and enthusiastic to learn and dedicate herself to sharing with the team! She will also try her best to teach Chinese through presenting the beauty of the language, introducing its culture, art and history to cultivate our students as future global citizens and life-long learners. In her spare time, she practices her favorite Beijing Opera. She also enjoys music and extensive reading. She looks forward to a fantastic school year of working with you and the rest of the WISS family!

Nadya Faquir

Nadya is originally from Mozambique but has lived in many different countries. She received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York and a Master’s in Education from Jones International University, in Colorado. Nadya is currently finalizing her second Master’s degree in Education – Elementary Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment and pursuing an online graduate Certificate in Advanced IB Studies at George Mason University. Before WISS she worked in an IB world school in Tanzania as a primary class teacher for two years. Nadya is very excited to join the PYP team in the 2013-2014 academic year and to be a part of the WISS family both as a teacher and a parent; her two daughters will be joining her at WISS. Nadya is also thrilled to move back to China as she started her teaching career in Beijing back in 2010.

She has worked as a Chinese teacher for over eleven years and gained a lot of experience in elementary education. Ms. Shen likes Chinese traditional culture very much. She enjoys sharing all of her knowledge with children.

Cindy Lam is from Canada with a dual degree in commerce and education. Miss Lam has been teaching since 2007 and has worked as far afield as South Korea before coming to China. One of her proudest moments was when her students in Korea won a prestigious prize for English and she saw how happy it made the children. She strives to motivate students to become life-long learners with professional skills, integrity, and global-mindedness. Miss Lam fully embraces the PYP inquiry-based method of education.

Ms. Shen graduated from East China Normal university with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She obtained a Teacher’s Certificate from kindergarten to middle school. She has worked in international schools for over 10 years with aged 3-12. Ms. Shen joined WISS since 2008, including 3 years in kindergarten and 3 years in primary school. She is a dedicated practitioner who enjoys her time in helping students to explore and experience life. She loves reading, travelling, music and sports.

Lorraine Iliya was born and raised in California, earned a BA in French Literature with a minor in Theater Arts, and holds a California elementary school teaching credential. Prior to joining WISS, Lorraine taught grades four and five at a French-American bilingual school near San Francisco. Lorraine is very committed to her students and has always striven to help them develop attributes of the IB learner profile. She has a wealth of teaching experience at various grade levels in international schools, having taught in Turkey, Bahrain, India, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and in the US. Lorraine, her husband, and two sons, have traveled the world and are truly global citizens. Lorraine speaks several languages and has a passion for hiking, windsurfing, and playing the ukulele.

Mrs Simojoki originally comes from the beautiful coastal town of Albany in Western Australia. She has over 25 years of teaching experience and during that time has worked in several different roles including Classroom teacher, Music Specialist and Teacher Librarian. Carmel has worked in schools using the Australian Curriculum, the British Curriculum as well as the Primary Years programme. Before coming to WISS she worked in Indonesia and Egypt and finds working in different countries and cultures a very enriching experience. Carmel enjoys travelling and outdoor activities as well as having a love of books and music. Carmel is excited to be in China and is very much looking forward to being part of the Educational team helping students at WISS become life long learners.

Miss Deirdre Bennett is originally from a small New England town in the United States. She graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. In 2007, she began her teaching career in Boston teaching students identified as having special needs in grades K-3. She then moved to South Korea, where she taught grade two and most recently grade four in South India. She enjoys guiding inquiry based learning while creating a safe and nurturing environment for each of her grade two students.

She is a dedicated and patient staff member who enjoys exploring new methods about teaching with her students.

Ms. Beatriz Bergasa began teaching in China in 2011, after seven teaching years in London. Originally from Barcelona, Beatriz first went to London to complete her BA with Honours in Journalism and News Media, and then stayed to get her MA and a PGCE in primary education. Beatriz loves China and enjoys supporting and guiding children as they continue on their learning journey.

Ed. from University of Pennsylvania in the U.S. Before coming to WISS, she has taught young learners English in Shanghai and Mandarin in American public schools. She loves to see students’ progress and believes every student can achieve success. Her interests include learning different languages and cultures, playing piano and tennis.

Linnea McCully is originally from the Washington, DC area. She attended college in Minnesota, where she studied Elementary Education. She taught first grade in Cartagena, Colombia for two years before moving to China. Before joining WISS, Linnea taught the PYP curriculum at Rainbow Bridge here in Shanghai. Linnea enjoys teaching through inquiry, and she is excited to be teaching second grade at WISS.

Ms. Tian graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with a major in English and received her teaching qualification for early years and primary school. Before coming to WISS, she worked as an English teacher in a bilingual school for 3 years. She enjoyed the time with children and was very proud of them when they made progress. She is very excited to become a member of our WISS family and she hopes to learn and share with her students and the wider WISS community. In her spare time she likes reading, drawing and handicrafts.

Ms. Bela is an experienced educator who has been teaching in various international schools since 2001 and she considers herself a World Citizen. Ms. Bela was born in Germany, grew up in Russia and has been living in China with her daughter for over 14 years and think of Shanghai as her home away from home. Ms. Bela holds a degree in Drama, BA in Journalism, PGCE in Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Leicester University in U.K. Outside of school Ms. Bela enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures. Her other interests are photography, dancing, reading and spending quality time with family and friends.

Since graduating, she has been working ineducation at Ju’an Central Kindergarten, in Guangdong province and at Kinderworld Kindergarten in Shanghai. Her passion is educating children and teaching and learning methodology. She is a dedicated and valuable staff member who holds great affection for her students.

Ella Mona Persson, from Sweden, has fifteen years of international teaching experience as a class teacher in Sweden, Norway, USA and having taught the PYP here in Shanghai. Ella is currently teaching at the French School and is known to our Swedish community as she currently teaches in our own Swedish Mother Tongue programme at WISS after school. Ella brings an enthusiasm and energy that is wonderful to see.

Vicky graduated from East China Normal University with BA in Art Education and has Teacher Eligibility Certificate issued by the Chinese government. As a teacher, she has lived and taught for the last six years at both local and IB international school in Shanghai and Jakarta. Her Chinese language teaching covers a wide range from Nursery to Grade 10. Vicky has taught many subjects such as Chinese, Art, Science and Technology, Physical Education and an Exploring course. She joined the WISS team in August of 2013. She is a passionate educator and enjoys the challenges of teaching. Vicky devotes her free time to reading, painting, swimming and traveling. She looks forward to working with the children and her colleagues at WISS.

Patricia Morrissey

Ms Morrissey comes from sunny Sydney, Australia and brings her warm and friendly personality to the WISS Community. She holds formal qualifications in Primary Education from Australia Catholic University and Sydney University. With over 25 years teaching experience in both Early Years and Primary, Ms. Morrissey is as passionate and enthusiastic about teaching as when she first started. Ms Morrissey has taught in a variety of Sydney schools as well as schools in Canada and the UK. During her career she has held various executive roles including Coordinator and Deputy Principal. Ms Morrissey is flexible, adaptable and embraces change and new ideas with an open mind. She looks forward to being part of the WISS team this year and to encourage and develop her students to become life-long learners.

Originally from Shanghai, Ms. Wang received a MA in Curriculum and Instruction from University of the Pacific, Stockton, CA. She had an internship experience in one of the international schools in Shanghai and did her student teaching at a California state public school. During the days of her college life, she also had been an individual English teacher, assistant, and volunteer. She is passionate about the field of education and wishes to be a dedicated educator to inspire students.

Monika is from West London in the United Kingdom where she was awarded her Bachelor of Education from Kingston University, London. She is an Early Years specialist who is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience. She is keen to provide children with the confidence to enable them to be happy independent learners. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, travelling and cooking; always with the help of her son, so it can get very messy! Together, they are very excited to be a part of the WISS community.

Amy is from Shanghai. She started teaching in international schools in 2003. She worked at Dulwich College Shanghai for nine years before joining WISS in August of 2013. She loves teaching and Mandarin is her favorite subject. This is Amy’s second year of learning through a masters course about teaching Chinese at East China Normal University and she will graduate in 2014. Her husband is working in the government and his most important work now is about Disneyland. She loves spending time with her daughter. She looks forward to seeing you!

Ms Ye graduated from Fudan University with a BA in English. She has worked as a Chinese teacher for over six years and gained a lot of experience in elementary education. Ms Ye has a passion of working with children. Her interests include arts and crafts.

Nigel Pritchard

Mr. Pritchard received his Bachelor of Education (Honours) at Westhill College, Birmingham University. After three years of primary school teaching in the UK, Nigel headed overseas. During the six years previous to his tenure at WISS, he worked at two other international schools in China. Receiving ongoing PYP training, Nigel is excited by this opportunity to teach in the programme for which he feels a great affinity as a teacher.

Andrew Bailey

EAL Teacher

Andrew Bailey is from Florida in the U.S. and graduated with a BA in English from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Embarking on an overseas teaching career in 1997, he has lived and taught in Korea, Indonesia, Turkey, and several cities in China, his last post being in Suzhou where he taught Grade 5 for six years. He has a Masters in English Language Teaching from the University of Surrey in the UK and completed his teacher’s education at George Mason University in the state of Virginia, where he is certified as an Elementary K-6 teacher. Much of his career has been in EAL teaching and he is excited to be joining WISS in this capacity. His great desire for his students is that that have fun as they grow into confident, skilled learners and that they find their international school days to be among the best times of their life.

Jazmyne Watson

Mrs. Watson has worked both as a classroom teacher and administrator in several international schools in Shanghai. She completed her LLB Honours Degree with the University of London and her Post Graduate Certificate in Education with the University of Nottingham in England. Mrs. Watson has several years of classroom experience and has taught in the Early Years, EAL and Primary Years Departments. She enjoys working with children and values her role as an educator. When she is not busy working with her students she can be found enjoying long walks with friends or trying to improve her limited Mandarin.

Lisa is from Wales and gained a B.Ed Primary (Honours) at the University of Gloucestershire. She began her teaching career in London and has since taught EAL learners in both Primary and Secondary schools in addition to College and University in the UK. Lisa enjoys travel and has previously taught in Japan and the Philippines. On returning to the UK, she worked as an Education Authority School Improvement Advisor for EAL. Missing Asia, she moved with her family to Shanghai in 2011 and was Head of EAL at an international school before joining WISS. Lisa is enthusiastic about teaching EAL within the PYP curriculum; encouraging and supporting the language acquisition of those children new to English within the WISS community.

Matthew Grey

After completing his degree in Drama and Literature, Matt worked in fields as diverse as finance and theatre. His teaching career began in London, where he taught in multi-cultural primary schools. It was here that he gained a wealth of experience in working with EAL learners. Previously, he has taught in an international school in Hong Kong as well as in a top secondary school in Singapore for the past two years. His interests include a range of outdoor pursuits, team sports, theatre and spending time with his wife and two daughters. Matt is committed to inquiry-based learning and is really looking forward to working with the wonderful students and members of staff at WISS.

Anca Anghel

Ms. Anca Anghel was born in the ancient Romanian capital of Targoviste. Since her early youth she has been a professional volleyball player for 10 years, starting in her local team she made her way up into the National Volleyball team of Romania. Her education includes a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Physical Education from the National Academy of Physical Education and Sport, Bucharest and she also holds an international teaching certificate. Anca taught in Romania for 2 years before moving to United Arab Emirates where she was physical education teacher in different international schools (PYP Curriculum) for more than 5 years- including the Sheikh School of Abu Dhabi. She moved to China and joined the WISS family in 2012. Besides her daily classes, Anca is looking forward to build up a strong volleyball team for our school. In her free time, she likes to play tennis and travel.

Magnus Holmstrom

Magnus was born in Sweden, where he grew up participating in various competitive sports. His sports teaching career started over 20 years ago with coaching a variety of sports, following that he moved into outdoor ED facilitation and finally into teaching at schools. Magnus has taught in Sweden, Malaysia, Micronesia, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong. His education includes a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Health from Hong Kong University as well as other certifications. Physical activity and an active lifestyle have always played a large part in his life and he enjoys participating in various sports like CrossFit, swimming, inline skating, scuba diving, rock-climbing, kite surfing, mountain biking, quad biking and hiking to name a few. At Magnus’s previous school, he introduced CrossFit to the curriculum, specifically involving functional movement, strength, speed, balance and stamina with great success and is looking forward to developing CrossFit integration further here at WISS. Through fun and challenging lessons, he strives to instill a lifelong interest in an active lifestyle.

Ms Lu is a former Olympic swimmer and has represented China at many international games around the world, including taking the silver medal at the Swimming World Cup. Ms Lu has been an educator, swimming teacher, and pool manager for 12 years and wants to use her expertise to help the young people at WISS to unlock their sporting potential.

Ms. Croce comes from Italy where she studied kindergarten and elementary school teaching and graduated with a major in Physical Education. She has extensive kindergarten and P.E. teaching experience and has worked for more than 10 years in Italy before moving to Indonesia where she worked at Jakarta International School as P.E. teacher for children aged 3 to 5 years old. She loves children and she was delighted to join WISS early this year. She is married and she has two children.

Mr Shepherd arrived in Shanghai in 2008 from Sheffield, England. He studied Sports Science with Coaching at Sheffield Hallam University. Andy has coached a variety of sports at many of Shanghai’s international schools. Andy is passionate about all sports and hopes to provide WISS students with as many sporting opportunities as possible.

Learning Support Teacher

Julie Schneller has been teaching children to read since 1984. She has taught as a classroom teacher, private tutor, Reading Specialist and Learning Support Teacher. She has a BA in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education from the University of North Dakota, USA. After teaching in the classroom for many years, she realized her passion for better understanding how children learn to read. She completed graduate work in the area of reading, both at the University of North Dakota and the University of Northern Colorado, USA. Julie went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Special Educational Needs at the University of Kent, Christ Church College, England in 1995. In addition to teaching in the US, Julie has taught in International schools in England, Austria, mainland China and Taiwan. Julie’s philosophy of teaching is based on having a personal relationship with each child and working not only on their areas of need but developing their strengths. As a parent of two children, Julie understands the importance of feeling successful and nurturing the love of learning in each and every child.

Anne Blokhuis Muurlink

Learning Support Teacher

Mrs Muurlink is from the Netherlands and has been living and working in Shanghai for one year. In 2009 she obtained her Master’s Degree in Pedagogical and Educational Sciences at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. With a background as a Behavioral Therapist, Mrs Muurlink will be an asset to the Learning Support Department at WISS, focussing on supporting children in the behavioral, social and emotional area. She will also help students improve in the basic skills required for learning, such as attention span, organizational skills, and time management. Mrs Muurlink will also be liaising closely with the various support agencies in Shanghai to ensure that WISS students and parents have easy access to specialist help, to include Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy when needed. Mrs Muurlink loves working with children and is looking forward to joining the teaching team at WISS.

Liz Jones

PYP Art Teacher

Liz Jones is originally from the UK and has had a passion for the arts since an early age. She obtained her Art and Design Diploma and BA Jewellery degree (Hons) in the UK but moved to New Zealand which is where she completed her Post Graduate training to become a teacher. She has a strong inquiry background and is an advocate for active learning in a safe and concept driven environment. She has an enthusiasm for learning and inspiring creativity and gains much from watching children grow and develop into lifelong, creative learners. Having been a classroom teacher for many years she is now an art specialist teacher and relishes the challenges that this brings. Apart from the arts Liz enjoys reading, theatre, yoga and sport. She is well known for her colourful personality and clothing!

Sara Fioriglio

Miss Fioriglio is from the countryside of Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. She graduated in 2007 with a double BFA from Arcadia University in Art Therapy and Painting, and spent a year in Americorps designing a community center for the arts. She came to China in 2009, and since has taught Visual arts curriculum to students at WISS as well as migrant Chinese students at a local high school. Along with teaching Art and making Art, Ms. Fioriglio enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She hopes to inspire her students to be creative, and have confidence to explore new ideas and possibilities!

Ms Vicky Booth is originally from the UK but completed high school and university in New Zealand, where she spent most of her adult life. She feels very much at home in the WISS family, teaching Early Years and Primary Art. Vicky has taught in New Zealand, England, and the Philippines. Art Education is her passion and she enjoys inspiring students to embrace their creativity and nurture their imaginations. Vicky is joined at WISS by her two young daughters and husband Peter, who is also a PYP Teacher.

Adi Gafni

Adi Gafni

Music Teacher

Adi is an experienced Rhythm and Movement specialist and has been teaching music to young scholars since 2006. She started her musical career with 3 years of professional studies at the Rimon school of Jazz and contemporary music majoring in Vocals, following that with a BA (Hons) in musicology and teacher certification studies in Israel. Adi is finalizing her theses on Beethoven’s piano sonatas. She likes singing, swimming and Indian food. Her favorite phrase is “Music is what feelings sound like.”

Freya Yin

PYP Chinese Coordinator

 

After earning her degree and certification for Early Childhood Education at East China Normal University, Ms. Yin began to study how to teach Mandarin and earned a BA from the Department of International Chinese. She taught for seven years in the Shanghai Public Schools and after five years teaching at two different International Schools of Shanghai, she studied and earned her certification of Mentality Consultation Assistant.

Ms. Li graduated from East China Normal University majoring in Chinese Language and Literature. She earned her BA degree and teaching qualification for high school in 2006. Before she worked at WISS, she taught for 6 years in other International Schools in Shanghai. Her Chinese teaching covered a wide range from Grade 1 to Grade 6, from beginner level to advanced level. As well as being an experienced and truly dedicated teacher, her goal is to instill in children the value of being the best they can be and looking out into the world with eyes that see the best in all people.

Kathy Anderson

Kathy Anderson

Technology Integration Specialist

Kathy Anderson is from the United States and is currently teaching in an international school in Costa Rica where she is a Grade 2 class teacher, having taught Grade 4 before that. Kathy has enjoyed teaching the PYP and will be a welcome addition to WISS.
