Pedagogical Leaders
Tom Kline
Director & Secondary School Principal
Tom Kline was born and raised in Northern Ireland, trained as a teacher in England, and has worked in the UK, the Middle East, South Korea and China. He has been teaching internationally since 2000 and has been an educational administrator since 2003. Mr. Kline has been the Cambridge IELTS Coordinator for the University of New England Centre in China, he has headed the University Preparation Programme for the Brown University Institute for Elementary and Secondary Education in the Middle East, and before coming to WISS he headed the King Faisal Middle School in Riyadh. Mr. Kline has worked with many new academic programmes, including leading the team which founded the first IB Middle Years Programme in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Kline has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen’s University and a Master’s in Education from the University of New England. He is proud to be working at the first all-IB School in Shanghai.
Fiona Johnstone
Early Childhood & Primary Principal
Originally from Scotland , Ms. Johnstone has significant experience in the development and management of kindergarten and elementary schools both nationally and internationally. She has served as the Head of DUCKS at Dulwich College in London , Head of Junior School at Perth College in Western Australia and Deputy Head of Junior School at Oakfield Preparatory School in London . In addition, she has taught in Australia, Germany, Northern Ireland and Scotland . Ms Johnstone has previous experience of Shanghai having worked as the Founding Head of Junior School at Dulwich College Shanghai where she was based for three years. Ms. Johnstone has a strong interest in inquiry based schooling which is at the heart of the IB PYP.
Rachel McLeod
PYP Coordinator
Ms. McLeod graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Melbourne in 1997. She has been teaching internationally for over 10 years and has taught in Australia, England, South Korea, Romania and China. This will be Rachel’s third IB PYP School. Rachel comes with two years experience as a Primary Years Programme Coordinator and is thrilled to be working at WISS and helping to move the school forward in their PYP journey!

(Rene) Ren, Zhao Yang
PYP Chinese Language Coordinator
Ms. Ren first completed an undergraduate major in International Trade and then after some experience in international business, she took the exam for the MA Program in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at the International Chinese College of East China Normal University . She scored second highest among all applicants and was awarded a scholarship. Since then she has taught Chinese to students of all ages including young students, foreign university students, and business people. Rene received the unusual grade of excellent on her dissertation.
Soo Hui Chye
Nursery Teacher
Ms. Chye comes from the sunny island of Singapore. She has a BA degree from the National University of Singapore and worked as a personal tax specialist for 10 years. Thereafter,she did further studies and earned a Diploma in Pre-school Teaching from Singapore and a Master's in Education from Edith Cowan University, Western Australia. She has taught in a kindergarten in Singapore and most recently in the pre-school division at Shanghai Singapore International School and Yew Chung International School, Shanghai. Soo Hui enjoys working and living in Shanghai. She would like to travel to other parts of China. She looks forward to another year in Shanghai and at WISS!
(Kitty) Tang, Hui
Nursery / Chinese Teacher
Ms. Tang graduated from Huangshi Technical College, Hubei Province with a major in English education. Since graduating, she has been working ineducation at Ju'an Central Kindergarten, in Guangdong province and at Kinderworld Kindergarten in Shanghai. Her passion is educating children and teaching and learning methodology. She is a dedicated and valuable staff member who holds great affection for her students.
(Melody) Chen, Jun Lin
Nursery Assistant
Ms. Chen graduated from Nanjing Normal University in 2002, where she majored in Early Childhood Education. She has been teaching 6 years in a Shanghai bilingual kindergarten. She enjoys the company of children and loves to play and learn with them. Melody was excited to join WISS in 2008 and believes she will bring with her wonderful experience as a Nursery teacher assistant. She loves traveling, taking photos and listening to music.
Colleen Kelly
Pre-K Teacher
Ms. Kelly hails from Nova Scotia, Canada. She holds a BA in Linguistics and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. She has ten years experience in early childhood education. Her travels have taken her to many different parts of the world including England, Asia, and Central and South America. Before coming to WISS, she spent five years teaching in a bi-lingual kindergarten in Shanghai. She is an experienced PYP educator who has undertaken extensive training in the past 3 years. Colleen is thrilled to continue the PYP path at WISS and is an active member of the school community.
(Juliet) Zhu, Ye
Pre-K / Chinese Teacher
After earning her degree and certification for Pre-Kindergarten Education at East China Normal University, Ms. Zhu taught for 10 years in Shanghai Public Schools. After three years teaching at other Shanghai international schools, Juliet joined our staff at WISS. Her hobbies include Chinese dancing, ballet, and singing, as well as Chinese painting. She published an article in Shanghai Kindergarten Education Magazine. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful veteran on our staff.
Amy Griffin Pre-K Teacher
Mrs. Griffin brings her bright, sunny personality from Queensland, Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood from the University of South Australia. In her seven years teaching experience, she has taught students from 4 to 6 years of age. As a PYP teacher, Amy has been extensively trained and brings her valuable knowledge and experience of the program to life in her classroom each day. She has taught for the past five years at Trinity College, Gold Coast, an Authorized IB World School. Amy is an enthusiastic, cheerful and positive person, who loves meeting people and building relationships. She is passionate about working with and teaching young children and seeing them grow and develop socially, emotionally and intellectually. A creative and talented performer, she has a strong interest in, and appreciation for the Arts, especially drama, music and singing.
(Sherry) Shen, Xiao Lan
Pre-K / Chinese Teacher
Ms. Shen graduated from Shanghai Institute of Tourism with a major in Tourism English with teaching qualifications both for kindergarten and middle school. She has worked in international school for over 5 years with students aged 1-12, including 3 years in kindergarten and 2 years in primary school. She is a dedicated practitioner who enjoys her time in helping students to explore and experience life. She loves reading, travelling, music and sports. Currently she is furthering her studies at East China Normal University.
(Heidi) Du, Hai Qin
Pre-K Assistant
Ms. Du was an assistant teacher and art teacher in BLT Children Center at Shanghai Racquet Club for 7 years. She believes that children learn and grow through stimulating and fun activities. She has alot of vitality and a deeplove for nature and is dedicated to her students. Her hobbies are face painting, arts and crafts.

Ms. Lin graduated from Xin Chiao Technical College with a major in economics. Before graduating, she also began studies for her teaching qualifications. Currently she is completing her early childhood education studies at East China Normal University.

Ms Morrissey comes from sunny

University . With over 30 years teaching experience, Ms. Morrissey is as passionate and enthusiastic about teaching as when she first started. She has specialised in Early Years Education with a focus on Early Literacy and holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Expressive and Creative Arts. Ms Morrissey has taught in a variety of Sydney schools, Canada and the
UK . During her career she has held various executive roles including Co-ordinator and Deputy Principal. Ms Morrissey is flexible, adaptable and embraces change and new ideas with an open mind. She looks forward to being part of the WISS team this year and to encourage and develop her students to become life-long learners.
(Ellen) Wang, Xing
Kindergarten/ Chinese Teacher
Ms. Wang obtained her Bachelor of Early Childhood Education at the University of Melbourne. She did her practicum teaching at Presbyterian Ladies’ College - Early Learning Centre, Powlett Reserve Children’s Centre, Clark Street Children’s Centre, North Melbourne Primary School, Ascot Vale West Primary School, Hyde Street Kindergarten, St Kilda Primary School, and Lillian Cannam Kindergarten in Melbourne. During her practicum she taught children aged from 1-12 years old. She also taught Chinese at weekend school in Melbourne. She returned to Shanghai at the end of 2007 to work for Gymboree Music and Play before coming to WISS. Besides teaching she also enjoys traveling, music, cooking, and sports, and she loves to take on new challenges. She is very excited to be part of the WISS teaching team. She believes that every child has his/her own potential and diverse needs, and as educators we need to foster the development of the whole child.
Katryna Jacober
Kindergarten Teacher
Ms. Jacober joins the WISS staff coming from North Carolina, in the United States. As a child, she decided that there would be no greater job than being a teacher and helping children explore their world. So with that goal in mind, she got her degree in Elementary Education and her Master's degree in Reading Education both from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. She taught for six years at Lewisville Elementary school in Grades 1 and 2. During that time she earned an additional distinction as a National Board Certified Teacher, meeting the high standards for teachers. She loves children's books and sharing them with her students.
(Teresa) Wang, Chong
Kindergarten / Chinese Teacher
Ms. Wang graduated from Bohai University and got her BA in English Linguistic Literature in 2003. She also earned a Diploma in Teaching during her study at university. She has worked at The Big Learning Tree at at Shanghai Racquet Club for 2 years after graduating and has been a Nursery Chinese Co-teacher at WISS since 2007. Her love and passionate makes her teaching full of warmth and fun. She always believes that having a happy and healthy childhood is one of the most valuable experiences in life.
Tosca Killoran
Grade 1 Teacher
Ms.Killoran earned an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 1999. After working for the Pediatric AIDS Society of Canada as an art therapist, Tosca found her true calling in teaching. She then made the move to international education and relocated to Korea for eight years. In 2007, she earned her PYP/IB teacher award and is currently completing the last year of her Master of Education (PYP/IB) at George Mason University in Virginia. Tosca is excited to be joining the WISS community of learners, and looks forward to all the positive goals the community will accomplish in the future!
Ye, Ying (May) Grade 1 / Chinese Teacher
Ms Ye graduated from Fudan University with a BA in English. She has worked as a Chinese teacher for over six years and gained a lot of experience in elementary education. Ms Ye has a passion of working with children. Her interests include arts and crafts.
Catherine Nie
Grade 1 Teacher
Ms. Nie was born in Shanghai and moved to Australia at the age of six. She attended Macquarie University and obtained her education degree with a major in primary education and two minors in ESL (English as a second language) and LOTE (languages other than English- Chinese). She did her practicum teaching at Yogoona Public School, Botany Public School, Stanmore Public School and Regents Park Public School in Sydney. During her practicum she taught from grades one to six. She returned to Shanghai to work for the last two years at another international school teaching mainly grades 3 and 4. Besides teaching she also enjoys traveling, learning new languages, and cooking.
(Iris) Feng, Kun
Grade 1 Teacher / Chinese Teacher
Ms. Feng earned her BA degree and teaching qualification for high school from Hubei Normal University. She has been teaching in an IB school for the last two years. During this time, she also worked as a volunteer in an autism school. She is very proud of her job as a teacher. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and playing the Chinese Board game - Weiqi.
Renee Peitsch
Grade 2 Teacher
Ms. Peitch earned her Bachelor of Education at Griffith University, Queensland. Since graduating in 2005, Renee has had a wide and varied teaching experience across 3 states in Australia. While still at University in Queensland, Renee worked extensively in a voluntary capacity at her local PYP school, Trinity Lutheran College. Much of this work involved developing community relationships and programs outside of school for both primary and high school students. Renee has carried this passion for community and young people into her professional teaching. In her first year of teaching Renee trained as a PYP teacher at St Michael’s Lutheran Primary School Hanhdorf, South Australia where she taught Year 6. After marrying and moving to Melbourne, Australia, Renee worked as a Learning Support Teacher with year 5 and 6 students at Eltham College of Education. In the year prior to joining WISS, Renee had been working as the Prep Classroom Teacher at Eltham College, where she continued to foster her passion for creativity in teaching and learning with young inquiring minds. Renee brings with her a passion for teaching and learning, interest and appreciation for world cultures, and her musical and creative talents.
(Vivian) Hu, Hui Hui
Grade 2/ Chinese Teacher
Ms. Hu graduated from Shanghai East China University of Science and Technology where her major was Social Education. Upon graduation, she taught Chinese for more than three years to foreign students aged 7-16. She also taught at Shujin Cultural School Center and organized the school summer camp and winter camp and Chinese Culture lesson for two other International Schools in Shanghai. Her hobbies include calligraphy and singing. She loves Chinese traditional arts and hopes she can instill her passion in her students.
Nigel Pritchard
Grade 2 Teacher
Mr. Pritchard received his Bachelor of Education (Honours) at Westhill College, Birmingham University. After three years of primary school teaching in the UK, Nigel headed overseas. During the six years previous to his tenure at WISS, he worked at two other international schools in China. Receiving ongoing PYP training, Nigel is excited by this opportunity to teach in the program for which he feels a great affinity as a teacher.
(Ivy) Wang, Xiao Yun
Grade 2 / Chinese Teacher
Ms. Wang earned her B.A. from East China Normal University where she majored in International Chinese and has taught Chinese for more than 7 years to foreign students. After graduating, she taught as a high school English teacher in a local foreign language school for one year and then she became a Chinese teacher. She loves children and her work as an educator.
Alicia Lynch
Grade 3 Teacher
Ms. Lynch comes to WISS from Brisbane, Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Primary) from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) with a major in Information Technology. She is recognised as a Leading Teacher by Lutheran Education Queensland. Alicia began her career teaching in Grade 6 at St Joseph’s College Gregory Terrace, an all-boys school, before moving to a co-educational setting at St Peters Lutheran College. For the past five years, she has taught a variety of grades, focusing predominately on Grade 3. Alicia is known as a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher. She enjoys challenging herself and is currently studying a Masters in Learning Innovation. Alicia has a zest for life, enjoying a range of hobbies including trekking, scuba diving, rock climbing, dancing and soccer. She recently married and is excited about being part of the international community at WISS.

Grade 3/ Chinese Teacher
Ms. Tao earned a Bachelor degree in Pre-School Education from East China Normal University. She worked for 2 years at the Hong Kong Victoria Education Institution and as a co-teacher for English at Scholastic Educational Publishers. Currently at WISS, she teaches Intermediate Chinese. She loves teaching and WISS is very lucky to have her.
Erin Mc Govern

Ms. McGovern comes to Shanghai from
Chicago ! She began her journey as an educator at the
University Of
Vermont where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2004. While at UVM, she started teaching through inquiry in order to inspire her students to become life long learners. After moving back to Chicago and teaching kindergarten at
Green Bay
School for one year, Ms. McGovern decided to continue her journey in the international teaching community. She joined the IBO in 2005 as a teacher at

Japan , where she taught kindergarten and first grade for four years. Ms. McGovern loves the Primary Years Program as well as traveling
Asia , and is thrilled about joining the WISS community. She brings enthusiasm, creativity, and risk-taking to the discovery process, and is excited to share her passion for inquiry with all the third graders.
(Helen) Long, Qing Li
Grade 3 / Chinese Teacher
Ms. Long graduated from Beijing Normal University majoring in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics on a scholarship. She has been working as a Chinese foreign language teacher in universities and training centers for many years. She also worked in Singapore, where she taught secondary students Mandarin.
Amy Miers
Grade 4 Teacher
Ms. Miers began her tertiary education with a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Psychology. She then completed a Master of Education as a Postgraduate student at the Australian Catholic University in Ballarat. Amy has four years teaching experience with Grades Four and Six. She also has two years experience as Numeracy Coordinator. Amy has a passion for empowering children to direct and be responsible for their own learning. She introduced a Student Representative Council to her school in Melbourne, allowing students to have a greater voice in decision making and facilitate fundraising for social justice issues. Amy brings with her a love of Inquiry Based Learning and authentic curriculum development that is inclusive of each child’s academic, social and emotional needs.
(Judy) Wang, Jue Dan
Grade 4 / Chinese Teacher
Ms. Wang graduated from Zhejiang University with a Masters degree and Northeast Education Normal University with Bachelor degree, both in Chinese. After graduating from university, she went to South Korea and worked in TLC International Academy for 2 years. She is a highly qualified teacher with a rich and diverse experience. This is the first year for her at WISS.
Jason Wong Grade 4 Teacher
Mr. Wong is from Vancouver, Canada and holds three Bachelor Degrees in Psychology, Family Studies, and Education from the University of British Columbia. Before coming to WISS, he worked for an offshore Canadian school in Dalian, China and then at an IB PYP School in Ankara, Turkey. He is returning to China for his fifth year of teaching. In his previous schools, he was a specialist teacher, as well as a Grade 3 and 5 teacher. He is passionate about teaching and encourages his students to live by the motto "Don't Worry, Be Happy". Mr. Wong believes his primary goal as an educator is to instill the lifelong love of learning in his students through a rigorous and entertaining educational experience.
(Vivian) Sun, Wen Yan Grade 4 / Chinese Teacher
Ms. Sun graduated from Xi’an Translators University in 2002, and she has been teaching for 6 years in local colleges, primary schools and international kindergartens. She loves teaching and is always trying to improve her teaching skills. She won the 2nd prize in the Teachers’ Skills Competition of Shanghai in 2004. She believes that learning is fun and she is happy to learn and explore with her students. We welcome her to the WISS team!
(Freya) Yin, Bei Lei
Grade 5 / Chinese Teacher
After earning her degree and certification for Early Childhood Education at East China Normal University, Ms. Yin began to study how to teach Mandarin and earned a BA from the Department of International Chinese. She taught for seven years in the Shanghai Public Schools and after five years teaching at two different International Schools of Shanghai, she studied and earned her certification of Mentality Consultation Assistant.
Yang, Fei (Sophia)
PYP Chinese
Ms Yang holds a BA degree in English Linguistic Literature. She has taught Chinese at another international school for the past five years. She enjoys teaching and working with children from all parts of the world. She is excited to join the young yet dynamic WISS community.
Secondary School
(Eva) Li, Rong
MYP Chinese Language Coordinator
Ms Li holds an MA and a BA in Chinese Language and Literature. After teaching at a local secondary school in Sichuan province, Ms Li decided to pursue further study and gained admission to the highly competitive MA Programme at East China Normal University (ECNU). During her advanced study, she received scholarships and was awarded “Outstanding Graduate of Shanghai”. She has also taught students of different age groups in the School of International Education in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Center on International Educational Exchange, ECNU and Shanghai University of Engineering Science. Since she joined WISS as a founding member, Ms Li has been dedicated to developing a leading Chinese language programme at WISS. Her extensive experience and progressive teaching approach across PYP and MYP will lay a solid foundation to implement the DP Chinese programme in 2010-2011 school year.
Amanda Riske
MYP Maths Teacher
Ms. Riske graduated with her BA from
Arizona
State
University in Secondary Mathematics Education and a certificate in Scandinavian Studies. She was a Fulbright Scholar to Oslo, Norway for a year working with the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) and
PISA + projects at the Univerisity of Oslo (UiO). Ms. Riske stayed in Oslo to complete her Masters of Philosophy in Comparative International Education from UiO doing her field work at a developing school in
Northern Ghana . While completing her degree she taught at

School . Ms. Riske gained more experience as a teacher and with the IB program teaching in MYP and DP mathematics at
Bonn
International
School in
Germany for the past two years. She is passionate about her subject and enjoys linking mathematics to a variety of subjects making the material relevant to the lives of the students' interest and cultural backgrounds. Ms. Riske looks forward to engaging her students in mathematics at WISS.
Lisa Segal
MYP Humanities Teacher
Ms. Segal is originally from Manitoba, Canada. While in Canada she obtained her Bachelor of Education degree with a double major in Geography and History as well as her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in International Development Studies from University of Winnipeg. After completing university she decided to combine her love of teaching with her love of travel. She has been teaching for 8 years and has been lucky enough to experience life in the Middle East. China is a place she hopes to stay fora number of years while providing a great learning environment for her students, exploring Asia and completing her Masters of Counselling. She brings with her the desire to grow as a person while assisting students to do the same.
Glen Armstrong
MYP Science Teacher
Mr. Armstrong graduated from McMaster University with a major in Biology. Before coming to China he worked for the Vancouver School Board and is a qualified Canadian teacher. He is in his fifth year of teaching in China. In Beijing he taught IBDP Biology and middle school science and has attended a Biology IBDP (Level 2) workshop in New Delhi, India. More recently, Glen was teaching at a Canadian Offshore School in Nanjing where he coached the women’s basketball team and supervised the Model UN club. He is passionate about teaching international students and enjoys seeing them succeed. Glen is very excited about teaching MYP science at WISS and contributing to the family atmosphere at the school. He is married and he has a young daughter.
John Cucinello

Mr. Cucinello was born in
Brooklyn, New York in 1956. He received a BA in English Literature from

College in 1981 and a Masters of Science in Education (reading) in 1994 from

University . He has taught in the Bronx Public Schools for 11 years, and Yonkers, New York (5) years as well as (2) years in Saudi Arabia. John has PYP, DP and MYP experience. John speaks Spanish and English and has worked as a professional storyteller performing oral retellings of Homer's The Odyssey
Isabelle Baelde
MYP English Teacher
Ms. Baelde was born and raised in France, though she has spent a large portion of her life living abroad. Graduating from universities in Paris, with a Bachelor of Arts in History (University of Paris 7 - Jussieu) and another one in Philosophy (University of Paris 1 -Pantheon-Sorbonne) Isabelle has since qualified and developed her credentials as a librarian and a teacher of English and French. After working in junior and senior schools in France Isabelle went back to the University of Paris 7 to get her Master’s in English Literature. Her 25 year career has seen Isabelle work extensively with schools and universities, including working for the Ministry of Education in Paris, New South Wales Department of Education, Catholic Education Office, James Cook University in Queensland, and most recently as a trainer of English language teachers for the University of New South Wales.
Patrick Pellerin
MYP Science/Maths Teacher
Mr. Pellerin graduated from Quebec, Canada, with a bachelor of education degree specializing in Math and Physics. After a number of years teaching in Canada, he moved to Norway, where he taught IB MYP math and science at the Trondheim International School. Mr. Pellerin has an abiding love of teaching and enjoys nothing better than to watch students grow in confidence and understanding. He enjoys sports and is a karate instructor.
(Joanna) Xie, Yan
MYP Chinese Teacher
Ms. Xie began to study how to teach Mandarin at East China Normal University in 2001. She earned a BA from the Department of International Chinese in 2005. Having gained 2 years experience at the British International School, Shanghai where she held the lead teaching position of MFL (Mandarin as a Foreign Language) in the Primary school department, Joanna joined WISS in 2007. She is a passionate teacher and learner of inquiry education.
(Ellyn) Gao, Xiao Ling MYP Chinese Teacher
Ms. Gao graduated from Shanghai Polytechnic University with a major in English. After completing her teacher training and earning her teaching qualifications, she taught for three years in two other Shanghai international schools as a Mandarin teacher. She is currently undertaking a Master of Education degree through the University of Bath.
Kimberly Chow College Counselor
Ms. Chow is from Orinda, California, a suburb of
San Francisco . She earned a bachelor's degree in history from
Yale
University , where she was involved in journalism and children's theater. Along with editing news and reporting on university admissions for the campus daily, Ms. Chow edited The Insider's Guide to the Colleges, a compilation of hundreds of articles on schools around the U.S. and Canada that is written by Yale students and published by
St. Martin 's Press. She looks forward to guiding WISS students through the university admissions process and helping to mitigate the stress that often accompanies college applications.
(Jean) Yan, Jing Jing Lab Technician
Ms. Yan graduated from Shanghai University of Electric Power, where she majored in environmental engineering. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and is developing her practical experience working on the technical side of the Science Department. Ms. Yan loves the sciences and really enjoys finding solutions to everyday and global problems. Her hobbies include aerobic exercise, dancing, and literature. She hopes that all the students in her care will continue to grow in body as well as in spirit and be healthy and happy.

Jaia Tucker
Head of Art
Ms. Tucker holds a BA in Fine Arts from Regis College and an M.Ed from SUNY New Paltz. She has also studied sculpture in the Richmond College Program in Florence , Italy . In addition to having taught Art from the primary to the AP/IB levels and at University Level, Jaia has been a health education teacher and supervisor, a teacher of Reading, Math and Language Arts for grades 2-8 students, an amazing set designer for plays, a junior Olympic level volleyball coach, and a Middle School Coordinator in places as far reaching as San Francisco, Alaska, Namibia, and Kathmandu.
Lucinda Holmes Art Teacher Ms. Holmes comes from
Britain and has a wealth of teaching experience including art and design, English as an Additional Language and Special Educational Needs. Alongside her teaching Ms Holmes is an award winning artist. She completed an MA in Fine Art Drawing at Wimbledon College of Art,
London , and had previously completed her post-graduate teacher training at the University of Brighton, England. She is really looking forward to bringing her expertise to teaching exciting art lessons to the primary years students. In China, she has been teaching art to early learners and all the way up to adults and teaching English (IELTS + TOEFL) at a private college in
Shanghai . Passionate about art education Ms Holmes is especially interested in aiding the development of early learners through art.

Anne Drouet Head of Music
Originating from the UK, Ms. Drouetgraduated with a BSc Honors in Music from
City
University with piano studies at the London Guildhall School of Music. She has taught Music and Musical Theatre for over 12 years internationally and in the
UK . Under her artiste name of Anne Wu, Ms. Drouet has composed for Weinstein Films, the International Labour Organisation and for performing arts festivals and theatre projects in the international school community. She is an IB Diploma Music Examiner and a Member Practitioner for International Schools Theatre Association, ISTA for whom she delivers Specialist Music workshops and works as an Ensemble Leader with Middle and High School students. To date, Ms. Drouet work has taken her around the world to the USA, Asia and
Europe , where she has recently co-written a chart topping debut album with Polish star, Pola. Ms. Drouet has enjoyed teaching students from different cultures and musical abilities, from students who were 'tone deaf' to the young Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis. She looks forward to working with a new variety of students at WISS.
Alain Milette Music Teacher Mr. Milette has a BA in music and has been a professional musician, singer songwriter, audio engineer and kindergarten teacher. He is a multi instrumentalist and can play guitar, mandolin, mandola, bass, and piano. Having lived in
China for two years, Mr. Milette is very excited to have the opportunity to work in an IB school. He loves teaching internationally and enjoys meeting people of different cultures. He is looking forward to bringing the gift and joy of music to the children from Nursery to Grade 3 this year.
Adam Bourret
Primary EAL Coordinator
Mr. Bourret began his track as an educator in 2004 as an English teacher at a small national primary school in Bangkok, Thailand. Two years before, he had earned his Bachelors of Arts degree, with a major in anthropology, from the University of Oregon in the United States. His initial teaching experiences in Thailand paved the way for an enthusiastic commitment to life asa career educator. He later earned his MA in Education, with an emphasis in English as a Second Language, from George Mason University. Mr. Bourret is passionate about empowering students by providing them with the necessary tools to support them in their English language development.
Dan Capps MYP English / EAL Teacher
Mr. Capps is from Kansas City, Missouri, beginning his second year on the WISS Primary School EAL team. Before coming to WISS, he earned a Master’s degree in English, taught college composition at Marquette University, and worked as an editor and writing tutor. He hopes to inspire his students to read, write, and communicate with confidence, enjoyment, and pride. He is happy to live in Shanghai and excited to learn more about the cultures and languages of China.
Helen Woodriff
Learning Support
Ms. Woodriff has been teaching for over twenty years mainly in the lower grades. Her first Teaching Certificate was received in 1969, followedby a Diploma of Education in 1976, and then, an education degree from the University of Southern Queensland in the 80's. Her education has been a lifelong interest and will continue at WISS with the philosophies of the I.B.O methods of teaching. Her teaching background includes teaching English to Migrants in Australia, adults as well as children and teaching in remote areas of Australia where 98% of the local people were indigenous Australians. Recently, in 2003 she spent a year in an inner London school with younger refugee students then enjoyed teaching in St Andrew's International School of Bangkok for one year before returning to Australia for a few years. She is enjoying being here in Shanghai and will continue to learn by experiencing many new opportunities.
Nina Rosa

Ms. Rosa has been a Resource Specialist in special education for 25 years. Over the years, she has worked in the
California school system in several different school districts across the state. Her teaching experiences have enabled her to teach students that come from a range of demographic, socio-economic backgrounds and diverse cultures. Ms. Rosa graduated from

University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching credential in 1979. Early on in her career, she found that the special needs students really grabbed her heart and she went on to get her Master’s degree in special education at the

State
University in
Sacramento in which she has been teaching in special education since 1984. Ms. Rosa’s dream has always been to teach in the international schools. So, when she retired from the
California schools she saw the opportunity to pursue her dream and took the position at WISS as the special education teacher. She looks forward to working with the students, teachers, administrators, and parents at WISS to aid the special needs students to have a positive and successful experience at our school.
Luke Griffin
Physical Ed Coordinator
Mr. Griffin holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Movements, from the University of Queensland, Australia. Luke brings a wide range of teaching skills to WISS. In his eight years of teaching he has had the opportunity to teach in a variety of subject areas. The first four years of his career were in the high school setting teaching Senior PE, Technical Drawing (Graphics/Drafting), Science, English and Maths. He is a trained PYP teacher, serving at Trinity College, Queensland, Australia, as Physical Education teacher in the Primary School. Being a Physical Education specialist, his passion lies in sports, activities and educating children about their bodies and health. Outside of his teaching career Luke invests his time heavily to his chosen sport of archery and has a passion and interest for digital and graphic design. Luke's wide range of interests and coaching qualifications across a wide range of sports enhance the Physical Education program.
Mirella Croce
PE Teacher
Ms. Croce comes from Italy where she studied kindergarten and elementary school teaching and graduated with a major in Physical Education. She has extensive kindergarten and P.E. teaching experience and has worked for more than 10 years in Italy before moving to Indonesia where she worked at Jakarta International School as P.E. teacher for children aged 3 to 5 years old. She loves children and she was delighted to join WISS early this year. She is married and she has two children.

As a graduate of Shanghai University of Sports, Mr. Yuan worked as a PE Teacher in a local high school. He was also coach of the soccer team and ping pong team at his former school. This is his second year at WISS where he demonstrates his passion to his students an his love of sport.
Fiona Collins
Library Resource Teacher
Ms. Collins is from Scotland and graduated with a Post Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies from the Robert Gordon University. She has worked as a Librarian in both British Curriculum and IB schools in Hong Kong and has spent the last year developing the Primary Library at another international school in Shanghai. Since leaving Scotland in 1994, Ms. Collins has lived in Turkey; Germany; Shanghai, and Hong Kong, returning to Shanghai in August 2008. She is passionate about children’s literature and loves to work with students to encourage a lifelong love of reading. Ms. Collins is married with two children.

She worked for 3 years at Shanghai Singapore International School, Min Hang Campus as the library resource teacher, attending to the needs of students from K-12. Yu-Lin Phavichitr
Director of Admissions
Mrs. Phavichitr grew up in Taiwan, emmigrated to South America when she was a teenager. In her early twenties she went to the USA to pursue higher education. She received BS and MS in Accounting from Long Island University, Brooklyn, NY. She also received the CPA license and worked many years in private accounting in New York City. With the family bond from South America and love of Spanish language and culture, she returned to work in an import and wholesale business in duty free port, ZOFRI, Iquique, Chile for 2.5 years, before relocating to Shanghai in Feb. 2000. In Shanghai she found a new horizon by working in international schools. She worked 4.5 years in YCISS, and was in charge of the admission and office administration of Hong Qiao Campus. She feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the wonderful group of people and leaders at WISS. She has met many interesting families from all over the world, and sees her role to serve the new comers to Shanghai, and help connect the community in Shanghai. She wishes to contribute her professional and personal experience to make WISS a wonderful home for all the students and their parents.

He has worked as a mentor in USYD Mentor Program to support and encourage a small group of new postgraduates in building personal networks and sharing experiences.

Ms. Meng graduated from East China Normal University with her MA and BA in Tourism. During her university days, she interned in a 4A advertising company Wunderman and an American trading company Lumz’n Blooms Ltd. After graduation she worked at Longfor Real Estate Co. before joining WISS. She loves working in a school environment with students and families. Her great patience in customer service is a big addition to our school. She enjoys working with people from all over the world in an internationally minded environment.

Ms. Yu is a China certificated accountant with over 10 years working experience. Before joining WISS she worked for Achieva International Trading Co. as a Senior accountant for the past 4 years. She established and maintained close relationships with bank executives, auditors, and attorneys, developed, and maintained all aspects of finance, preparing monthly and yearly management reports for decision makers and business operators. We welcome Christine’s expertise to the WISS team.

Ms Zhou graduated from North China Coal Medical University where she received a Bachelor of Nursing after finishing five years’ intensive training in nursing. She has worked as a nurse in a local hospital in Shanghai for three years and loves working with children at WISS.

Ms Lu graduated from TianJin Medical College with a degree in Nursing. She has worked at Quyang Hospital of Shanghai for over three years, mainly engaged in the Surgical Department, Internal Department and ICU. She also worked at another local hospital before joining WISS.
Al McDowall
Head of Technology
Mr. McDowallis delighted to be starting anotheryear at WISS, having thoroughly enjoyed last year as Educational
Tech Support . While continuing to teach ICT from Kindergarten through to Grade 5, he was also busy sourcing, updating and maintaining software, both for students and teachers, as well as building the intranet. Adding to his duties this year, he will oversee all technological aspects of life at WISS as well as looking after the technical side of productions in the new theatre.

Suzie has done several jobs, including sales, cashier and administrative work. This year she joined our school as a driver and also as anassistant in the school office.
