FROM THE WISS TIGERS’ SPORTS DESK

January was jammed-packed full of WISS Athletics…

On Saturday, January 19th, Coach Vaughn, Coach Katrina, and our WISS Tigers HS Girls Basketball Team traveled to SAS-Pudong (Shanghai American School-Pudong) to participate in the SISAC Cup Championships. Taking their undefeated season into the weekend, the girls played their hearts out. Leaving everything they had on the court, blood sweat and tears, as our Tigers walked away as Silver medalists. The 2nd Best High School Girls Team in the Shanghai, and the best finish any WISS Basketball Team has ever placed (2nd Place SISAC D1 Girls Champions)…WISStory was made this past weekend! CONGRATULATIONS girls and a special congratulations to Coach Vaughn and Coach Katrina as well!!

On that same day, our WISS Tigers Boys Basketball Team traveled to NAIS-Pudong (Nord Anglia International School Shanghai-Pudong) to participate in the SISAC Plate Championships. The boys played well, fought hard up and down the court, but came up against some red-hot stiff competition. The end result for our guys was a 5th place finish. Congratulations Boys, Coach Leonard and I are extremely proud of you!
WAY 2 GO!!

On the weekend of January 19th and 20th, Coach Magnus, Coach Ruby and our WISS Tigers Swim Team (32 swimmers and 24 parents) traveled to NIS (Nanjing International School) to compete in the NIS Annual Invitational Swim Meet. This was a HUGE meet and a BIG challenge for our young Tigers Swim Team. While there were only a few trips to the medal podium, there were plenty of Heat Winner Ribbons awarded to our Tigers, and each and every one of our hard-working swimmers set at least one personal best during the two-day event. Coach Magnus, Coach Ruby, Coach Libby, Coach Gavin, Coach Vicki, and I are super proud of you…Great work Tigers!
GO TIGERS GO!!

With all these results we can only say that we are extremely proud of all these talented students who made sports a part of their life. Don’t forget that sport is more than winning medals. When sport becomes part of you, your life changes, you learn new skills such as leadership, teamwork, discipline, respect or trust which become part of your personality for the rest of your life.  We´ll continue preparing our tigers athletes for the upcoming competitions and we won´t stop encouraging them. Together we can do it!
